The Kinder plateau is surrounded with rocky crags and to the west is the Kinder River which flows into the spectacular waterfall called Kinder Downfall. To the east of Kinder is further high land heading towards "Hope Cross" which links Kinder to Win Hill and the Hope Valley.

Within the Hope Valley area is Castleton which offers stunning views of Mam Tor and the famous Winnat's Pass, with many interesting caves containing the rare semi precious stone - Blue John

This is a very popular area throughout the long summer months. Close by is the town of Buxton, which offers something for everyone. Buxton Opera house

The cottage is situated in the centre of the Peak District where you are never far from a stunning attraction or wonderful walking. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Castleton Caverns, Lyme Park, Crich Tramway Museum, Carsington Water, the Roaches, the Monsal Trail or even Alton Towers are a short distance from Buxton. This is a great location, set in rolling countryside yet from Manchester International airport we are only a 40 minute drive by hire car or direct airport bus service, you could be in our cozy little cottage in no time ,we have had guests from Australia so why not drop in from the USA .There are direct flights in to Manchester from several US airports.
.The River Wye in the photograph follows the Wye Valley, rising above Buxton flowing eastward through Bakewell before finally joining the Derwent at Rowsley. This is perhaps Derbyshire’s prettiest rivers with its limestone uplands and superb dales.

At Monsal Dale the valley widens, the steep sided Monsal Head provides spectacular views over the valley before the river reaches Ashford-in–the-Water, passing beneath what was a medieval packhorse bridge and then again at Bakewell where there is a 13th century bridge with five gothic arches before reaching Haddon Hall.

The old market town of Buxton nestles in the Derbyshire hills and at a height of 1,000 feet above sea level it is one of England’s highest towns. Its fame as a health spa dates back to Roman times.

Bakewell has an equally ancient past being mentioned in the Doomsday Book and probably also occupied by the Romans. This beautiful, small market town is situated on the River Wye and has many pleasant walks from the bridge to the town centre where there are many shops, pubs and restaurants and one of the oldest markets in the area, dating back to 1300. The renowned Bakewell Show takes place on the first Wednesday and Thursday of August, attracting both the farming community and visitors from all over the region and beyond.

Apart from the many charming Peak District villages that can be found throughout the Wye Valley other nearby places of interest includes Chatsworth House, home of the Dukes of Devonshire and the grandest stately house in the region and Haddon Hall, a medieval manor house and home to the Dukes of Rutland situated on the River Wye.
The cottage is also perfect for cyclists as we are on National cycle route 68 and there is plenty to test even the most ardent cyclist but there are also nice  flat easy routes for someone just looking for a day sight seeing along the canal on a bycicle.

All on ground floor level, with electric heated radiators and multi fuel stove, there is no gas on the property.

In the cottage on the dining table we have compiled a list and directions from the cottage for various local walks,we also have drawn a map of the local area around the cottage which guests have found invaluable when they first arrive and there are also full instructions on how to use the oven and hob,and we are happy enough to help with anything you may have trouble with or need directions to go anywhere and we can also advise on some lovely walks and towns to visit all you have to do is ask.
